Raja Ampat, is an archipelago comprising over 1,500 small islands, cays, and shoals surrounding the four main islands: Waigeo, Misool (which is home to ancient rock paintings), Salawati, and Batanta.
Raja Ampat is very well-known among marine's life enthusiasts, divers and underwater observers, because there are 75% of the world's coral species that can be found here!
If you're planning to stay at Waisai which located in Waigeo Island, you can reach this capital of Raja Ampat Regency from Sorong by:
1. Public Ferry
There are three boat companies that connected Sorong and Waisai. You can ride the boat from People's Harbour (Pelabuhan Rakyat) which located only 1 km away from Swiss-Belhotel Sorong or 5 minutes by car.
The departure time is at 9am and 2pm every day*. The trip from Sorong to Waisai takes about 2 hours.
2. Rent a Private Speedboat
The cost is definitely higher than the public ferry, however this transportation is highly suggested if you're planning to arrive at Waisai as soon as possible.
From Waisai, then you can visit other islands by inter-islands transportation that you can organize with your tour guide or host from the homestay.
