Kampung Morten is the only traditional village located in the middle of Melaka City, where the average population is Malay. This village is considered a living museum since many of its residents still practice a way of life that has not changed much and many display the uniqueness of their house designs. This village was named after JF Morten, the Land commissioner when the commission was established in the early 1920s . Morten has played a role in building this village, which was once just a swamp.
Kampung Morten is that it is surrounded by the Melaka River which is now becoming more and more popular, in addition to being a domestic and foreign tourist attraction, thus being the main tourism product in the state of Hang Tuah which is full of history.
Kampung Morten still maintain the old ways such as house design, how to decorate the house and the landscape. Visitors will be able to see all the houses which are almost 200 in number, arranged in a traditional way in terms of the shape of the roof, stairs, interior decoration in addition to the way of decorating.
