The highest mountain on the island of Sumatra and the highest volcano in Indonesia outside of Papua. Kerinci Mountain located in Jambi Province and adjacent with West Sumatera Province. This mountain is surrounded by Kerinci Seblat National and natural habitat for Sumateran tiger and Sumateran rhino.
Kerinci Mountain peak is on 3.805 mdpl, where visitors can see the picturesque Jambi city, Padang and Bengkulu even Indian Ocean can be seen clearly. Kerinci Mountain has a crater with 400 x 120 meters in space and filled with a green water. On the east you will find Bento lake, the most high clear water swamp in Sumatera. Behind of it, there is Tujuh Mountain with a very beaufitul crater that almost untouchable.
The vegetation is dominated by some of mahogany species, Rafflesia Arnoldi flower and giant suweg Amorphophallus Titanum. For fauna, Kerinci Mountain is home for elephants, rhinos, tigers, honey bears and leopard Sumateran. There are also 140 bird species.
This mountain can be reach by overland from Jambi to Sungaipenuh via Bangko. Also can be reach from Padang Lubuk Linggau, and Bengkulu. If you go there by plane, you have to landing on Padang or Jambi.
