Sorong is the fastest growing town in West Papua and a gateway to Indonesia's Raja Ampat Islands. It serves as a port for travelers to get to the remote West Papua and then connect onwards by ferry or boat to Raja Ampat islands, the best diving sites in Indonesia. It also can be reached from Jakarta/Surabaya/Bali by flight through Makassar or Manado.
Getting around in Sorong is easy by taxi, chartered van or by becak for shorter distances.
